Committed Youth

God still works when we forget to. This past year has been a very different year to last, but God did much more than I could have planned for.

This year HSC was held again at Camp Kanga and, even though smaller than last year, what a great camp it was. We teamed up with South Queensland again and were able to share in the ministry of Eddy Shigley as our guest speaker. This was possible because we decided last year to move our camp to the first week of the school holidays. If you have not already, I encourage you to watch our promo video covering all that happened at HSC 2015. You can find it on YouTube here:

Our theme this year was SEEK, focusing on Jeremiah 29:13 – You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Eddy shared many practical ways he has experienced people seeking God, and pursuing God’s will. From both family and personal experience the youth were able to recapture the vision of sharing God with their family and friends. Over the span of the camp we had 17 of our 18 campers recommit their lives to God. On top of this we saw every single camper commit to reading Gods word. This consisted of either reading the book of John over the next month in order to form a habit and hopefully keep going and reading the entire Bible over the next year. This was a great encouragement to the youth leaders and since camp we have seen this commitment stay strong.

Continue to pray for the youth of this district as many grew closer to God over camp and refocused their lives. Pray also that as they return to home life and youth groups that their passion will not die. I know we will see great things from this generation and we will see many lives changed because of these 18 youth.

Being the spread out district that we are I continually look for ways we can encourage and bring our youth together to make sure they know they are not alone. I thank you all again for the opportunity to invest in the lives of our youth in the district.
